Exchange programs promote academic collaboration among higher education institutions while providing participants with the opportunity to experience different cultures, gain international exposure, and enrich their academic development.
Students admitted to exchange programs are selected based on their academic performance after meeting the program eligibility requirements. Students participating in the Erasmus+ Program study at one of Bilkent University's partner institutions abroad during either the first or second semester of their third year, or the first semester of their fourth year. Students participating in Bilateral Exchange Programs spend either the first or second semester of their third year at a partner university abroad.
During their exchange period, students take courses that are compatible with their degree programs, enabling them to gain valuable international academic experience. Upon successful completion of their studies abroad, the credits earned are transferred and recognized as equivalent courses at Bilkent University, allowing students to continue their education without any delay in graduation.
Students participating in the Erasmus+ Program at partner universities across Europe may receive Erasmus grants funded by the European Union (EU), which can cover a significant portion of their educational and living expenses, subject to eligibility.
To date, Bilkent University has sent more than 5,300 students abroad through its exchange programs. In addition, the University has welcomed approximately 3,300 international exchange students from numerous countries, including the United States, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Singapore, and South Korea.
