CTIS Startup Studio

From Capstone to Company
  • About
  • Startup Studio

CTIS Startup Studio is an innovative initiative designed to transform senior project ideas into real-world startup opportunities. By combining structured mentorship, industry collaboration, and entrepreneurial thinking, the studio helps students move beyond academic projects and into the startup ecosystem.

Our mission is simple: turn student innovation into real impact.

CTIS Startup Studio was introduced in the 2025-2026 Academic Year with the acceptance of 7 CTIS Senior projects.

Why CTIS Startup Studio?

Every year, CTIS senior students develop ambitious capstone projects. Many of these ideas have the potential to become real products, services, or startups. However, turning a project into a startup requires more than technical skills — it requires mentorship, market understanding, validation, and entrepreneurial mindset.

CTIS Startup Studio bridges this gap by providing a structured pathway from idea → prototype → validation → pitch → launch readiness.

Mentorship-Driven Discovery

Each participating Senior Project team is matched with an industry mentor who guides them throughout the journey.

Mentors help students:

  • Discover the real-world potential of their idea
  • Challenge assumptions and refine the value proposition
  • Gain domain and industry insights
  • Think and act like startup founders
  • Develop problem-solving and entrepreneurial mindset

Through regular mentor meetings, students gain exposure to real industry challenges and learn how to shape their projects into viable business opportunities.

The list of our 2025-2026 mentors:

  • Ahmet Hayran
  • Aykut Aydınlı
  • Dr.Ayşe Kuyrukçu
  • Dr.Bülent Gümüş
  • Muratcan İğdeli
  • Ömer Çağrı Özdemir
  • Zerrin Demirci

Problem–Solution Fit

Before building products, teams focus on understanding the problem space.

Students work to:

  • Clearly define the problem their idea solves
  • Identify and analyze the target audience
  • Understand user needs and market context
  • Evaluate competitors and alternatives
  • Refine the solution to ensure real market relevance

This stage ensures that projects are not just technically impressive, but meaningful, needed, and impactful.

MVP Development & Validation

Once the problem and solution are aligned, teams move into building and testing.

Senior Project teams:

  • Develop a functional prototype or Minimum Viable Product (MVP)
  • Conduct user testing and collect real feedback
  • Validate assumptions with real users
  • Apply data-driven improvements and iteration
  • Learn agile product development practices

This process teaches students how real startups build products: test early, learn fast, iterate continuously .

Pitch & Launch Readiness

The final phase prepares teams to present their startup idea to the world.
Students receive support in:

  • Crafting compelling startup pitches
  • Building business and value propositions
  • Communicating technical ideas to non-technical audiences
  • Preparing demo presentations and product showcases

The journey culminates in the CTIS Demo Day, where teams present their startups to:

  • Faculty members
  • Industry mentors
  • Peers and the CTIS community
  • Potential collaborators and investors

By the end of the program, teams are ready to take their project beyond the classroom and into the real world.

What Students Gain

CTIS Startup Studio equips students with:

  • Real startup experience during their degree
  • Industry mentorship and networking
  • Product development and validation skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and confidence
  • Stronger portfolios and career readiness

Students graduate not only with a senior project, but with the experience of building something that can truly make an impact.
